The 67 Trend: A Biblical Discernment of a Growing Cultural Movement

Updated: Jan 8

In every generation, cultural trends rise and fall, but some contain deeper spiritual meaning. The growing “67 trend” that has now spread across social media, Hollywood-inspired content, and youth culture may seem harmless at first glance. To many, it looks like another aesthetic movement, a visual theme, or a mysterious symbol intended to gain attention.

But spiritually, it reflects something far more significant.

The trend aligns with a larger cultural shift that elevates self over Scripture, human desire over God’s design, and confusion over truth. As believers, we are called to discern the times, test everything through God’s Word, and recognize when the world is pushing a narrative that quietly opposes the ways of God.

This is not about fear, but about understanding the times through Scripture.

In this post, The 67 Trend: A Biblical Discernment of a Growing Cultural Movement, you will learn how this trend connects to deeper cultural shifts, why its symbolism matters spiritually, how entertainment and philosophy have prepared the ground for confusion, and how God’s Word equips believers to stand firm in truth, clarity, and discernment.

Entertainment, Secular Culture, and the War Against God

It’s important to understand first that what we are witnessing with the 67 trend is not happening in a vacuum.

The 67 trend is not an isolated event. It is another expression of a much larger cultural movement that has been taking shape for generations. Entertainment, secular philosophy, consumerism, and modern identity culture have all been carefully crafted to pull the human heart away from God and into a worldview centered on the self. What we see today is the result of a long spiritual war disguised as creativity, progress, and intellectual enlightenment.

Much of today’s entertainment system is built on the same foundation: distract the mind, desensitize the soul, and normalize what Scripture warns us to avoid. Hollywood, music industries, and online platforms condition people to seek fulfillment through emotion, stimulation, and constant consumption. The goal is to replace spiritual hunger with worldly satisfaction, to fill the heart temporarily so that it never seeks the eternal truth of God.

Modern philosophies reinforce this illusion. Darwinism removed God as Creator. Secular psychology removed God as Healer. Materialism removed God as Provider. These systems convinced society that human beings can find meaning, identity, and purpose without the One who created them. Entire industries have been built on the promise that fulfillment comes from achievement, appearance, possessions, status, or social success.

But none of these things satisfy the soul. They are part of a system designed to keep people busy, distracted, and spiritually asleep.

Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the spring of living waters, and cut out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.

Society constantly tells people that fulfillment is found in what they buy, what they become, how they look, or what they achieve. This is the foundation of modern capitalism — not the economic system itself, but the spiritual lie beneath it:that satisfaction can be purchased, that identity can be built through possessions, that happiness comes from lifestyle rather than relationship with God.

This worldview slowly shapes the subconscious. People learn to trust in themselves, their desires, their emotions, or their dreams instead of trusting in the Lord. Entertainment becomes a form of escape. Philosophy becomes a replacement for truth. Capitalism becomes a substitute for identity.

Meanwhile, the spiritual hunger created by God remains unsatisfied.

Secular society’s goal is simple: remove God from daily life and replace Him with distractions. When a culture abandons its Creator, trends like 67 rise quickly because the soil is already prepared for confusion, rebellion, and disorder.

Romans 1:25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator.

The modern world teaches people to worship themselves.

The entertainment world teaches people to worship fame, emotion, and pleasure.

Philosophy teaches people to worship human reason.

Consumerism teaches people to worship possessions.

But none of these idols can save.

None of them bring peace.

None of them offer truth.

Only Jesus can.

Believers must stay awake and aware — because these cultural movements are not random. They are part of a spiritual battle designed to lead hearts away from God and toward a worldview that glorifies the self instead of the Savior.

What the 67 Trend Represents Spiritually

The numbers may look random, but the symbolism behind the “67 trend” is intentional. Throughout Scripture, patterns and numbers hold meaning. God is a God of order, not confusion, and He uses numbers repeatedly to reveal truth.

Seven (7) symbolizes completeness, divine order, and God’s perfection.

Six (6) symbolizes humanity—imperfect, fallen, and often rebellious before God.

The inversion of seven and six creates a powerful symbol.

Instead of God’s order over humanity, the symbol “67” points to humanity rising above the authority of God. It reflects a spiritual climate where the world increasingly wants man at the center and God pushed to the margins.

This is not just a numerical coincidence. It reflects a cultural mindset that has been growing for years:

  • The belief that truth comes from within, not from God.

  • The idea that self-expression outranks holiness.

  • The normalization of spiritual rebellion under the disguise of art or entertainment.

The Bible tells us clearly why this matters.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.

The “67” symbol is a modern expression of an ancient spiritual rebellion. The key point is that the trend resonates with a generation searching for meaning outside traditional frameworks, often rejecting established truths.

The Deeper Spiritual Roots Behind the Trend

Trends like “67” don’t appear in isolation. They are part of a larger spiritual pattern that Scripture warns believers about. From a biblical perspective, cultural movements often reflect the spiritual condition of society.

The 67 trend aligns with a growing emphasis on self-expression, personal desire, and relativism. These values contrast with biblical teachings that call for humility, obedience to God’s Word, and absolute truth.

This trend subtly promotes:

  • Self over Scripture: Prioritizing personal feelings and experiences instead of God’s commands.

  • Human desire over God’s design: Elevating what feels good or trendy rather than what is morally right.

  • Confusion over clarity: Encouraging ambiguity and multiple interpretations instead of clear biblical standards.

Such shifts can lead believers to question foundational truths or become complacent in their faith. Recognizing these patterns helps Christians stay grounded and avoid being swept away by cultural currents.

There is a consistent theme behind them:

The world celebrates rebellion.

The world romanticizes confusion.

The world glorifies self above God.

The world replaces truth with emotion.

The world seeks what is forbidden because it rejects

God’s boundaries.

The 67 trend captures all of these ideas in a symbol that looks modern but carries an ancient message:“You can be your own authority.”

This echoes the first lie ever spoken in Scripture—the lie in the Garden of Eden.

Genesis 3:5 For God knows that in the day you eat it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God.

This same deception fuels much of today’s cultural messaging. The enemy has not changed his tactics. Only the packaging has changed.

Hollywood, Symbolism, and the Agenda Behind the Trend

The rise of the “67” trend did not begin on social media alone. Hollywood has long used numbers, symbols, and imagery to reshape beliefs subtly. Films, music videos, celebrity branding, and storytelling often contain spiritual messages that most viewers overlook.

Examples of the 67 Trend’s Impact

The 67 trend appears in various cultural expressions that influence youth and media:

  • Music and Videos: Songs featuring the number 67 often include ambiguous lyrics that glorify self-indulgence or reject authority.

  • Fashion: Clothing brands incorporate 67 designs that appeal to identity and rebellion rather than wholesome values.

  • Social Media: Influencers use the trend to create a sense of belonging among followers who feel disconnected from traditional beliefs.

These examples show how the trend shapes attitudes and behaviors, often steering people away from biblical truth.

When the culture celebrates something, even subtly, it is worth asking:

Does this reflect God’s truth, or does it contradict it?

The 67 trend appears repeatedly in content that embraces themes such as chaos, inversion, rebellion, or anti-biblical spirituality. Whether creators intend it or not, spiritual influence is real. Scripture reminds us that not everything appearing artistic or harmless is spiritually neutral.

2 Corinthians 11:14 Even Satan masquerades as an angel of light.

The enemy does not need people to consciously worship darkness. He simply needs them to normalize it.

Hollywood has mastered this technique—disguise rebellion as creativity, hide spiritual distortion in visuals, and repackage confusion as art. The 67 trend is yet another example of this cultural conditioning.

The Influence of “67 Skrilla Doot Doot” and the Power of Sound on the Mind

One reason the 67 trend is spreading so aggressively is the rap song “67 Skrilla Doot Doot,” a track that has gone viral across TikTok and YouTube. At first glance, it seems like a repetitive, meaningless chant. But spiritually and psychologically, it is far from harmless.

The lyrics are dark, chaotic, and filled with violent phrases that bypass conscious reasoning and go straight into the subconscious mind. The beat itself is built on frequencies that create agitation rather than peace, restlessness rather than clarity, and emotional imbalance rather than stability. God designed music to bring order, worship, and reflection. The enemy distorts music to influence the heart in the opposite direction.

What enters through the ears enters the soul. Scripture explains that the human heart is shaped by what we allow in.

Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.

Music has spiritual power. It can open doors to either peace or confusion. The “67” song creates repetition that works like a mantra, imprinting its message into the subconscious. The music video is packed with occult and chaotic imagery, inverted symbols, and references to darkness that many dismiss as “aesthetic.” But spiritually, these visuals are not neutral. They shape imagination, normalize rebellion, and make darkness look attractive.

What appears like harmless entertainment becomes a subtle form of spiritual desensitization. When a song and video repeatedly feed the mind with disorder, rebellion, and violent imagery, it conditions the heart to accept what God’s Word warns us to reject.

Ephesians 5:15–16 Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

This trend reveals how deeply music now shapes culture spiritually, especially for those who do not guard their hearts.

The Spiritual Influences Behind Skrilla’s Music and Practices

The 67 trend becomes even more concerning when looking at the artist behind the viral track. In multiple interviews, Skrilla openly describes practices that are spiritually dangerous, unbiblical, and rooted in rituals that directly oppose Scripture. He speaks of sacrificing animals such as goats and mice, claiming he does these rituals to receive spiritual power, influence, and guidance. He describes communicating with spirits, calling on them for protection, and inviting them into his work.

He repeatedly mentions Ogun, Osun, Oya, and other deities from Afro-Caribbean and Yoruba spiritual systems. He explains placing names in a pot for Ogun to “work” on people, offering sacrifices, and seeking power through these rituals. This is not hidden. He celebrates it publicly. His album titled “Underworld” includes songs named after these spirits, openly paying homage to them.

According to his own words, his “religion” involves many gods, spirit interactions, and ritual offerings. These practices are not simply cultural references; he embraces them as sources of strength, identity, and supernatural influence.

Scripture is clear about seeking power, guidance, or favor from spirits that are not from God.

Leviticus 19:31 Don’t turn to those who are mediums, nor to the wizards. Don’t seek them out, to be defiled by them. I am Yahweh your God.
Deuteronomy 18:10–12 There shall not be found with you anyone who uses divination… or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit… For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh.

When young people listen to the music, repeat the chants, or imitate the imagery, they are unknowingly participating in a spiritual atmosphere shaped by rituals and beliefs that invite the influence of unclean spirits. The enemy does not hide his fingerprints. He simply repackages darkness as entertainment, creativity, or cultural expression.

What is being normalized is not harmless. It is spiritual warfare.

Why This Trend Appeals to Today’s Generation

There is a reason the trend spreads quickly among youth and young adults. Today’s culture promotes self as the ultimate authority. Being “different” or “edgy” is celebrated as a form of identity.

The world encourages people to reject every boundary God created, from morality to purpose to truth itself. In this climate, a symbol that represents the reversal of divine order becomes extremely attractive.

Humanity is spiritually hungry—but without Scripture, people search in all the wrong places. Instead of running to God’s Word, many run to aesthetics, mysticism, new-age spirituality, occult themes, or personality-based identities.

The Bible has already spoken about this pattern.

Colossians 2:8 Be careful that you don’t let anyone rob you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elements of the world, and not after Christ.

The 67 trend becomes popular because it offers an identity outside of God, a mysterious “meaning” that feels powerful or exclusive. But the truth is simple:It is another strategy to pull hearts away from God’s authority and into human-centered spirituality.

When Schools Promote the Trend: What Dictionary.com Revealed

One of the reasons the 67 trend spread so quickly among children is that it entered the school system almost immediately. Some teachers, wanting online attention or trying to seem relatable to their students, began recording TikTok videos of themselves performing the chant or the dance during school hours. Instead of guarding the environment entrusted to them, they helped push a trend rooted in confusion into the classroom.

However, not all schools responded the same way. While some teachers and schools promoted the trend openly, other schools have now banned it because of its disruptive behavior patterns, obsessive chanting, and the concerning spiritual themes surrounding it. Administrators reported that students were repeating the song compulsively, losing focus, and even showing signs of emotional agitation—all of which reveal how powerful repetition and sound can be on young minds.

This cultural confusion aligns perfectly with Dictionary.com’s official Word of the Year, “delulu.” Their definition describes a mindset in which a person chooses fantasy over reality, embraces self-deception, and ignores objective truth. This reflects the spiritual tone of the trend itself—a movement rooted in chaos, inversion, and emotional impulse rather than clarity, wisdom, or truth.

Dictionary.com has also named “67” as its Word of the Year for 2025. They describe it as a “nonsensical and playfully absurd” slang term that has gained strong popularity among teenagers. Its rise reflects a broader cultural shift and has sparked confusion, debate, and fascination online. While the world dismisses it as meaningless or humorous, believers must understand that spiritual confusion often hides behind entertainment and trends that appear harmless.

A culture that rejects God’s truth naturally embraces trends that entertain the mind but darken the spirit. When teachers and institutions participate in these movements, they unintentionally guide children toward entertainment that normalizes rebellion and spiritual disorder.

Scripture warns believers about the responsibility of influencing the young.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Children are impressionable.Their defenses are not fully formed. They trust authority figures with their minds and their hearts.

When trends like these enter schools—whether promoted or banned—they reveal the spiritual vulnerability of a generation being shaped by culture rather than Scripture.

Believers must stay vigilant. Parents must stay informed. And children must be protected from influences that confuse, distort, or desensitize their hearts.

Psalm 34:11 Come, you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of Yahweh.

The Bigger Picture: Cultural Shifts and Spiritual Vigilance

The 67 trend is one example of how culture can subtly shift away from God’s design. It reminds believers to remain vigilant and discerning. Cultural movements often reflect deeper spiritual battles between truth and deception, light and darkness.

By staying rooted in Scripture and connected to the body of Christ, believers can navigate these shifts with wisdom and grace. Recognizing trends like the 67 movement helps protect faith communities and encourages a faithful witness in a changing world.

Believers face the challenge of engaging with culture without compromising their faith. Here are ways to respond:

  • Educate Yourself and Others: Understand the trend’s spiritual implications and share insights with friends and family.

  • Offer Alternatives: Promote content and communities that reflect biblical values and encourage healthy identity formation.

  • Live Out Your Faith Boldly: Demonstrate through actions and words the difference Christ makes in your life.

  • Pray for Those Influenced: Intercede for those caught up in the trend to find clarity and freedom in God’s truth.

Be Aware of Secular Interpretations: Understanding Words and Meanings Through Scripture

As trends rise and cultural language shifts, believers must remain aware that the world often creates definitions, symbols, and meanings that have nothing to do with truth. Secular dictionaries, social-media platforms, and entertainment industries shape language according to cultural moods, not according to God’s standard. When society adopts new phrases, slang, or symbols, it rarely considers the spiritual influence behind them.

This is why Christians must look beyond surface meanings and return to Scripture as their foundation. The Bible gives us the true lens through which we understand the world. Words, ideas, and cultural expressions must be measured against God’s Word, not against shifting cultural definitions.

Biblically, many key concepts were originally rooted in Hebrew or Greek. Their meanings were precise, intentional, and spiritually grounded. But as language evolves in secular culture, words lose their original depth and become tools for shaping emotion rather than truth. This is how spiritual warfare enters language: through confusion, distortion, and subtle shifts in meaning that move people away from the clarity of Scripture.

Even numbers in Scripture carried deep theological significance. Not for superstition, but because God used patterns, structure, and symbolism to teach truth, reveal order, and point people back to Him. The enemy often copies or distorts these patterns, turning them into trends that glorify rebellion or confusion. This is why believers must be aware of how culture manipulates meaning while Scripture reveals truth.

Secular explanations rarely address spiritual influence. They do not discern between what is holy and what is deceptive. The Bible warns us clearly to examine everything through God’s wisdom.

1 Corinthians 2:14 Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him, and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Believers are called to stay alert, evaluating cultural messages through Scripture and prayer. Spiritual warfare does not always appear as dramatic opposition. It often begins quietly, through symbols, words, music, and ideas that seem harmless on the surface but shape the heart in powerful ways.

Awareness is not fear.

Awareness is wisdom.

Discernment protects the mind, strengthens the spirit, and keeps believers rooted in the unchanging truth of God.

Christians — and even those who do not yet know Christ — must be warned about the spiritual significance behind trends like these, because cultural influence shapes the subconscious so deeply that many people do not even realize they are participating in or repeating symbols that glorify darkness rather than truth.

How to Discern Cultural Trends Spiritually

Discerning the spiritual meaning behind cultural trends requires intentional effort. Here are practical steps believers can take:

Study God’s Word Regularly

Scripture provides the ultimate standard for truth. Regular Bible reading sharpens discernment and helps identify when a trend conflicts with biblical principles.

Pray for Wisdom

Asking God for insight guards against deception. Prayer invites the Holy Spirit to reveal hidden motives and guide responses.

Observe the Fruit

Jesus taught that you can recognize a tree by its fruit (Matthew 7:16). Look at the outcomes of the trend—does it lead to love, peace, and godliness, or division, confusion, and sin?

Engage in Community

Discussing cultural trends with mature believers offers perspective and accountability. Collective wisdom strengthens individual discernment.

Test Everything

1 Thessalonians 5:21 encourages believers to test all things and hold fast to what is good. This means critically evaluating trends rather than accepting them blindly.

How Christians Should Respond

Believers are not called to panic or fear. We are called to discern, test, and stand firm in truth. When cultural trends try to distort biblical meaning or elevate darkness as “art,” we respond by anchoring ourselves in Scripture.

Ephesians 5:11 Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

Exposing does not mean attacking people. It means revealing the spiritual root behind what culture normalizes.

Believers must stay grounded in the Word, aware of the times, and unafraid to call out deception when we see it.

We choose Christ over culture.

We choose truth over trends.

We choose light over darkness.

We choose God’s order over human rebellion.

Reclaiming Truth: Fighting the Trend with God’s Word (Bible Verses Connected to “67”)

The enemy uses confusion, rebellion, and trends to influence culture, but God’s Word has the final authority.Instead of fearing symbols or cultural movements, Christians lift Scripture higher.

One way to resist darkness is to proclaim the truth of God’s Word out loud, especially verses that stand in direct opposition to the messages behind the trend.

Without referring to numerology, we can simply declare: If the world misuses a symbol, believers can reclaim it through Scripture.

Here are powerful Bible passages connected to chapter or verse “6:7,” “7:6,” and the entire Psalm 67 — all reminders of God’s supremacy, protection, and holiness.

Psalm 67:1

May God be merciful to us, bless us, and cause his face to shine on us.

Psalm 67:2

That your way may be known on earth, and your salvation among all nations.

Psalm 67:3

Let the peoples praise you, God. Let all the peoples praise you.

Psalm 67:4

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you will judge the peoples with equity, and govern the nations on earth.

Psalm 67:5

Let the peoples praise you, God. Let all the peoples praise you.

Psalm 67:6

The earth has yielded its increase. God, even our own God, will bless us.

Psalm 67:7

God will bless us. All the ends of the earth shall fear him.

These seven verses alone stand as a direct response to the rebellion embedded in the trend. Psalm 67 is a declaration that God reigns, that His face shines on His people, and that the nations cannot escape His authority.

Final Thoughts on The 67 Trend: A Biblical Discernment of a Growing Cultural Movement

The “67 trend” is not a harmless online symbol. It reflects a deeper cultural shift away from God’s truth and toward human-centered, spiritually confused values. But Christians are called to stand in clarity, not confusion; in truth, not deception.

Ephesians 5:13 But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light.

God’s Word is the final authority.

His truth is unchanging.

His Kingdom cannot be inverted by a number, a symbol, or a trend.

Our responsibility as believers is to shine light where the world hides confusion, expose deception with Scripture, and speak truth boldly for the sake of those who may not yet recognize the spiritual influence behind cultural movements. Part of our calling is to warn, to teach, and to guide others — believers and unbelievers — back to the truth of God’s Word when spiritual attacks are disguised as entertainment or trends.

We walk in light because the Holy Spirit guides us.

We discern the times because Scripture opens our eyes.

We remain anchored in truth because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
